Hi Julie, I am going to be a student at UC Davis in the fall and I’ve been thinking about my future lately a lot. I think I want to go to med school. But I cant pursue fully because I’m not really sure if medicine is right for me. I was wondering if you could offer me some insight as to how you knew you didn’t want to be a doctor and also if you know some ways that I could determine if I would be ultimately happy as a physician. I mean does enjoying studying mean a lot? I’m trying to sort things out and my full potential cannot be released unless I am suuure of what I wanna do. I’m at that stage yea. Gosh I’ve been searching and searching to find out if I really wanna do this. I hate the pressure also because I cant just decide later anymore. My grades and volunteer work must be thought about now. I hope you can offer me some advice as to how I can determine if I want to be a doctor or not.

I don’t know what you use, but in WordPress there is an option to approve only the first comment made by a commentor, then all other comments made from the same person are automatically approved. This works for me as a happy medium!

If you upgrade to the latest version of Movable Type, you can instead require peole to use comment accounts. With comment accounts, you won’t be troubled by comment spam again.

Julie, am looking forward to reading of the new directions. (and I was an 8th grade chicken poxxer, too)

But as for spam, I see that Akismet is either currently avaiable or in testing. It started with WordPress. Since installing it, the numbers of spam I’ve received have dropped. Dramatically. Every once in a while, I’ll get a few and mark ‘em as spam and then there’s a long lull for days, no– weeks– at a time. So if Akismet is available, I’d go for it.

I tried “approval” on my blog, which annoyed the life out of me. Eventually, my techie guy installed some sort of DNA-detector that worked better for me. Hope you find a solution that makes you happy, and lets you keep blogging. I like it when you blog
