This is sick – update

June 29th, 2004 · 2 Comments

UPDATE – The spam seems to have stopped, thank God, and I think I’ve deleted all of it. When I realized I couldn’t do anything about it and got desperate enough to start praying, then it ended…hmmm….I’m not sure what happened but I’m grateful it’s gone for now. Thanks to Enoch for letting me know and Chris for his suggestion below…

I’m getting bombed with spam this morning and I don’t think it’s ever been this bad. I’ve spent the past half hour or so trying to keep up with it and I can’t. I’m trying all I know to stop it but nothing works. Worst of all, it is very yucky spam. Any suggestions? Ted thinks that due to the MT set-up I have, I can’t turn off comments after a week etc. Until things settle down around here, please ignore the spam. I am so sorry and frustrated. I had a few other posts to publish but I ended up chasing spam instead this morning…and now I have other things to do today…

    Try this http://www.neilturner.me.uk/2003/Oct/02/a_sortof_solution.html

I can turn off comments after I week- but another blogger that tried this approach reported almost no spam in the weeks following. If somebody want to manually entre posts you can’t stop them – but this solution will stop the automated spambots.
