“Walking” in the womb

June 30th, 2004 · 1 Comment

Tonight I showed the girls these pictures posted by the BBC

A new type of ultrasound scan has produced vivid pictures of a 12 week-old foetus “walking” in the womb.

The girls enjoyed the photos, finishing their dinners with speed so they could see them. It lead to a little discussion about placentas, umbilical cords and ultrasounds…sounds like I’ll be learning more too…

When I was pregnant with Elisabeth, I saw a flyer advertising 3-D ultrasounds for $300. I avoid having any unnecessary scans or ultrasounds during pregnancy, but looking at these photos makes me wish we had some how been able to see our baby yawning and smiling inside me.
