Bottlecaps, fortunetelling and blogging

July 24th, 2004 · 1 Comment

I don’t often drink soda. The other day at a party we enjoyed some Jones Cream Soda so I bought one on Monday at the grocery store. Inside the bottlecap it read

You will soon receive an invitation to a sporting event.

And later that night, I did!

When I went to look at the company’s website, I discovered that Jones Soda has a Blog page where they feature bloggers and encourage others to get started!

Hmmm, though when I click on the Emerging Talent faces, I find blogs that mostly appear the same, sponsored by Jones. The only fresh posts seemed to be ones written by some guys touring around promoting the soda. And the comments have spam…a true proof of being bloggers!

I liked how the site was interactive, asking me to rate and review sodas, providing space for me to enter what new kinds I’d like to see. Maybe they’re still working on the blogging, but I’m glad Jones is encouraging conversation with customers.

Here’s a thought…what if I could subscribe to a feed that would tell me what was about to happen to me each day…what if I could read a post in the morning and know what the day would bring….
