Caught in the cookie jar

Yes, this picture is posed, after the fact, but I did catch our youngest, Elisabeth, with her hand in the cookie Tupperware. She is a clever one, this #3. I don’t know if it is because she is the baby of the family, but she has her ways of getting attention. I don’t remember our other children trying to serve themselves dessert.

The other day Elisabeth went up the stairs for her nap ahead of me. By the time I got to her room, I couldn’t find her. I feared something bad had happened, nightmares of parenting parading before my mind. I walked through each of the bedrooms and bathrooms, calling her name, hoping to find my toddler daughter. Finally I asked downstairs and discovered that while I had been searching, Elisabeth had gotten herself back down to the living room. When I caught up with her she was running away from me, pleased with her ability to outsmart Mommy….
