Today was the annual Pancake Breakfast at the Fire Station. Yum!
The past two years we missed this island event. Abigail read the firefighter signs standing in intersections around town and the girls asked if we could go. Due to athletic schedules we couldn’t stay for a truck ride, but it was enough time to stop and get fueled with pancakes and ham hot off the firefighters’ grills.
Mr. Rogers, I think, used to have a song on his program about “Hurry Up Syrup.” I checked his website and couldn’t find it – perhaps I am confusing his with another PBS program I saw as a child…
Anyway, this weekend is “Slow Down Syrup” time. Lots of pancakes. Not a lot of activities to do (after Saturday morning). I had fun this afternoon doing a project with the girls. We are savoring the slowness and reveling in the relaxing…it is sweet!
