I thought the lion will lay down with the lamb was a Biblical quote but this is the closest reference I can find:

The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling [ Hebrew; Septuagint lion will feed ] together; and a little child will lead them. Isaiah 11:6 (NIV)

Here’s a scene from the library of Sakai School on Bainbridge Island. No goat but there also was a leopard in this corner. Perhaps someday too the octopus will lay down with the alligator. And a little child will lead them. I know our little children enjoyed guiding this animals around the library…
