Amoxicillin to the rescue

December 5th, 2003 · 1 Comment

I am not a fan of antibiotics, not a mom who goes running to her pediatrician at the first sign of sniffles, begging for a prescription for Baby. Yet this week, at her 15-month appointment, Elisabeth was diagnosed with a double earache. She had gotten ill a couple weeks ago with a cold, and had been acting cranky recently. The night before her appointment she had had trouble sleeping and woke with a fever. I don’t think she had the ear infections very long, but she probably was in the process of being ill for a while. After only a day or two of amoxicillin, wow, Baby is better! Elisabeth is smiling so much more, and pleasant, even when I put her down. She likes to play and still likes to put the silverware away with big sister Abigail. So I have to say I’m grateful for antibiotics, amazed by what amoxicillin can accomplish, and glad to have such helpful pharmaceuticals to use when we need it.
