Food for thought

Our neighborhood helped prepare some Thanksgiving baskets to be given to needy families through Helpline House here on the island. The girls have been concerned about hungry children , so they came along with me, and brought some drawings and food of our own, when we delivered the neighborhood’s baskets. In return, we got a thank you postcard in the mail from Helpline, along with the following statistics, which surprised me, considering Bainbridge’s size(20,000) and affluence (median income $70K).

Did you know that….

The number of children who rely on the food bank would fill over 12 classrooms?

Well over 7 tons of food are distributed through the food bank each month?

1 out of 8 island households makes less than $25,000 a year?
