Looking back on the past year, I am grateful for the gift of friends, especially a few who are old enough to be our parents. In my younger days, if someone had told me that we’d be hanging out a lot with people old enough to be our parents, I’m not sure how I would have reacted. But this year Ted and I have really appreciated the wisdom, care and counsel from these friends in our lives. They’ve raised their children, seen more of life than we have, enough to give us some guidance and share stories that encourage us. They’re a little farther along the road of life than we are, and the journey has made them more precious to us.
