Blow bubbles

August 13th, 2003 · 1 Comment

I came home from our Wednesday night concert at the park and typed this out…
To Aaron….

Tonight at the park
you are blowing bubbles
not baby breaths blown through plastic wands
but beautiful ones
giants or gods might breathe
hues of magenta and gold
quiver with their own majesty
before they pop
big dreams
they move as if alive
these airborne amoebas
shaped by your skill
iridescent reflection
wonder

you blow bubbles
deliberate with decision
creating shapes from soap
pipe and cord your tools
and I see how you craft furniture
how you carve wood
how you seek Beauty

Chidren gather around
poking and popping
in awe of your art
There is laughter
bouncing above us like the bubbles
we look at each other
we look at the bubbles
and laugh
all these children
me and my girls
a father with two in his arms
adults and kids all of us
laughing
and in all the laughter
I hear God saying
Blow bubbles My children
Blow bubbles
