The blogging space meme has been traveling around, the last two I saw here and here .
It took me a while to find the right photo of my space: my desk. When we first saw the house with a desk in the kitchen, I thought it was a strange idea. A desk in the kitchen? But I must thank this architect for changing my life. If I had my computer at a desk in a separate space, such as my upstairs bedroom, I’d never blog or be on-line. With my laptop open in the kitchen, I can easily check my mail or even read (some) blog posts while the kids are coloring or eating at the dining room table. I do some walk-by-blogging, typing a sentence or two of inspiration, or glance at my email Inbox with a click. I can look up recipes while cooking or Google while talking on the phone. Having a desk in the kitchen has given me more freedom and time on-line than I could have imagined.
Two disclosures
1) I don’t usually have tulips cascading across my desk. They were a gift I got last week.
2) I intentionally used the tulips to try to hide some photographs. There are some pictures on my desk, such as one of Ted on a hot summer day, that I’d rather not put out as public knowledge. When I tried to take a picture of my desk, I realized what a personal space it is for me, with photographs and art from my family.
Explanations:
1) I did leave half a wedding photo in the picture.
2) The stack of files behind my computer and the in box on the right are what I use in Getting Things Done.
3) Ted’s blogging space – and office – is directly through the corner of my desk. Punch a hole and we’d be set. Since we respect drywall, we IM instead.
4) On a bright day, I can even catch some sunbeams in my blogging space.
Speaking of blogging space, I am thinking about taking some space away from blogging, slowing down a bit. I have a few books due at the library soon and I ‘d like to get through their pages. I’ll still be posting but maybe a bit lighter for a little while. I’ll be taking a break from my blogging space…

i was amazed to see your tulips – I have a twin set on my kitchen counter that David brought home on Sunday! Same exact color, to judge by the photo.

I just followed the link to “Getting Things Done.” Sounds neat! I may pick up the book.
BTW, eagerly awaiting your itinerary, too. Looks like we will most definitely have the guest room ready by the time you get here — the studs & drywall are up. Rockin!

“Since we respect drywall, we IM instead” LOL! Love the imagery! Oh, mighty drywall, please continue to hold my picture hangers up. 😎
Of course now we all are curious about that picture tho…
