Yesterday morning, as I was washing the deck, spraying away the gray, revealing the gold, a sentence came into my mind: “I am making all things new.”
I don’t think this is my own thought – although I am making the deck new.
No, I believe God can speak to us, and I believe this is His voice.
Now I see: it is no accident that I am the one doing the deck this summer, not my husband or a hired hand. It is God speaking to me about my heart, how he wants to strip away the weathered wood, strip away the weathered wounds. Fears and feelings I’ve lived with all my life can be healed. Like the deck, I’ve forgotten what lies beneath the gray: what hues of gold and glory will emerge?!
“Making all things new” speaks to hunger I’ve hidden inside me
“All things new” speaks hope to my heart
And I say yes Lord
make me new.
make me radiant
for You.

Your final comment makes me want to sing a new song with those words! Actually, I just did! The song just came out!
