A postscript involving Baby Beluga

April 29th, 2004 · 1 Comment

Lauren’s description of the beluga whale that liked her reminded me of another childhood memory with my dad, relating to him, a special time we shared at the Vancouver Aquarium many summers ago. I can still see the whale looking at my dad through its side of the glass after he had been trying to communicate with it. It was as if they had had a little conversation: Baby Beluga and my father. Those belugas sure seem cute and smart. I can understand why Lauren is still “enchanted” (Similiar to what happened when I read about Ralph Waldo Emerson, I feel I can relate to their experience too.. a common human bond formed via belugas!)… Note: for more enchantment and charm… the Vancouver Aquarium has a Beluga Cam although it didn’t seem to be working this morning.
