Funny family traditions

October 1st, 2004 · 1 Comment

The other day I presented Elisabeth with the ceremonial plastic frog. Hers is more tadpole than frog, with a tail and only two back legs. It has become a bit of a family tradition to present a toliet-trained two year old with her own plastic frog. I had no idea I was starting a pattern with Abigail. In desperation those years ago with my first child, I purchased a number of plastic trinkets hoping the incentives would help her learn. I bought a series of tadpole to frog models. Abigail got one and then Michaela received another in her time. So now Elisabeth has the third one. Only the tadpole is left.

Funny how some family traditions can begin! And the traditions are funny in themselves…who would have thought a plastic tadpole could have such significance!

And to whom do you think the tadpole will go? 😉
