Favorite fall photo so far

Michaela, Elisabeth and I went to the post office yesterday. As we were leaving I saw maple leaves on the ground in the afternoon light and I was glad I had my camera handy.

My favorite fall photo isn’t a photo yet, but it’s one I mean to take every year. On the sidewalk outside a building downtown: the leaves fall on the sidewalk and then rain etches the shape and color of the leaves into the concrete temporarily. It’s a natural print, unfixed for future use, one time only, act now or forever lose it (until next year).

The gray concrete with reddish brown leaf prints marred by rain is so beautiful and unexpected under your feet.
