Moving out and changing my name…

April 1st, 2004 · 7 Comments

Tonight Ted helped me do something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I love my husband but sometimes a woman needs her own separate space. So I moved out – out of www.sauria.com, that is. We switched Seedlings & Sprouts to http://www.julieleung.com/ I also changed the blog’s name to include my own name: Julie Leung: Seedlings & Sprouts

I apologize for the change. Please re-subscribe to the feed or update the bookmark to this blog. updated to add feeds to this post

I hope that this new url and name will be easier to remember (no more ~ to type!) and also help readers identify me with my blog.

Another reason I switched domain names was so I could have my own statistics. Since I started blogging in July, I have been sharing with Ted at sauria.com. I’m a bit curious (nervous?) to look at my own numbers and it will be easier than scrolling/sorting through Ted’s links to find my own.

At the same time I did a few small style changes to the blog. I might play with it some more. For the moment though I am taking a break.

As always, I’d appreciate any comments or feedback.

And yes, I posted this on April 1 because that is when we made the switch. And also to have one last little laugh on April Fool’s. I plan on staying put here for a while – at julieleung.com and especially with Ted at our home together. I already changed my name and moved in years ago: I hope – from what I’ve written here in previous posts – I’ve made it clear that I don’t plan to reverse those decisions. I’m staying a Leung and staying in love. After all, all this hacking he does for me, only makes me fall in love with Ted more 😉

Looking good – and NNW picked up the redirect nicely. New layout looks nice, but may I suggest to add the obligatory title page link on “Seedlings & Sprouts”. I miss a nice title font as well, the title seems a bit pressed against the wall by the pics (which I would make a tiny bit smaller as well). Just some minor nits – I do like the new design!

    Congrats on the successful move!

One small thing: looks like background-color isn’t set for BODY in your css stylesheet. It’s easy to miss this (I’ve done it myself), unless you set your default background color in your browswer to something other than white.

At present http://julieleung.com/ displays something different to http://www.julieleung.com/, you might want to ask Ted to fix that. 🙂

Woot! You have your own URL! Congrats!
It’s great being married to a nerd, no? I mean, when my email goes plotz it’s ten million times better to ask hubby than to dial 1-800-GET-LOST 🙂

Thank you to everyone for the comments and encouragement! I’ve tried to implement what was suggested. Please let me know any more ideas or problems…thanks again!

And yes, nerd husbands are wonderful! 🙂

I have to third what Lisa and Julie said – it’s fabulous to be able to tell my best friend, uh, could you please fix my camera/laptop/palm/cell phone/iPod/the music computer/the kids’ computer etc. And to know he’s not only able to sort it all out, but pretty happy to attack the challenge. And he’s in-house. Great rates, too.
