Blogging while watching TV

January 10th, 2004 · 1 Comment

This is an unusual evening. It’s pretty rare for us to be watching TV period. It’s rare for us to spend a night, even a Saturday night, sitting on the office sofa craning our necks at the monitor displaying whatever channel we’re trying to receive.

Halley this week blogged Turn Off Your TV. Usually I’d have no problem living without the stuff. Turn if off – heck we hardly turn it on. We only watch figure skating. But this is one of the rare weeks of the year that we want to watch it. Today ABC is airing the national championships. Between today and tomorrow we’ll be watching 7 hours or so of television. Kind of like when you break your diet and indulge by gulping down an entire chocolate cake. I’m expecting to feel a little sick tomorrow 🙂

Tonight the girls and I had a pajama party. We got ready for bed and then settled down with Ted to watch some of the figure skating together. It was fun curling up under a blanket in our pjs and snuggling during the skating.

And the skating has been worth watching. The men’s competition, unlike last year’s disaster, was rich with good performances. Right now we’re watching the ladies, the much-hyped rivalry. between Michelle Kwan and Sasha Cohen. I like pairs and wonder why they don’t receive the same hype and attention as the singles skaters… I wonder if its cultural…anyway here’s Kwan skating so I should go pay attention…wow!….that was amazing…

Yeah sure I’ll turn off the TV – tomorrow 🙂

Remind me – maybe you have this in your blog somewhere already – how you watch TV on your computer? If I watched anything, figure skating would be high on the list – but I couldn’t be bothered to check when something is on, plus we have close-to-zero reception, since we don’t have cable. But using the computer sounds cool.
